Basic parts and terminology
Above the helmet is a rope-like piece of cloth, usually depicted with
alternate bands of color. This object is to support the
Crest. The
crest can be a simple object or animal. Sometimes it is very
complicated, almost having a whole coat of arms itself.

The fabric which drapes from the helmet is called the Mantle. The
colors of the mantle reflect the colors of the owners Coat of Arms.

The crown shown here tells us that this Coat of Arms belongs to
royalty. Most people would not have this symbol.

The sides of the Coat of Arms sometimes have Supporters.
Traditionally, the grant of a supporter was an honor to be earned,
and it is possible to have only a single support. Also, the supporters
do not have to be the same figure on both sides.

The supporters usually stand on a  Base. This is another opportunity
to use symbolism. The base can be rock, grass, branches or water.

The bottom of the Coat of Arms can have a Motto Scroll. This is
where you put your catch phrase, usually in Latin.

Your Coat of Arms goes here. The shield shape shown is the most
typical, although the straight edge shield also works.

What's the Difference?

Different helmet shapes and the way they are facing
means different things in Heraldry. It can denote
rank, honor and region of origin.

For most tapestries, just pick what you like best!
Typical Tapestry Pricing:


Tapestries start at $80 size 5' x 4'.
This includes the price of the cloth, measure
and cutting, binding the seams and tabs
or dowel pocket.

Tapestries larger than 4' x 5' will start at $100
for material cost and extra labor. Smaller
tapestries fall under banner pricing.

Design Transfer and Painting = $10.00 hour
Estimates given on your design. This is
where we convert your design into a pattern
and apply it to the banner fabric, then paint.

Beading  and Studs
Price given for our choice of beads. We can
add a tasteful array of beads to enhance
your design, giving your banner or tapestry
a textural dimension to enhance the
richness and beauty of your artwork

Embroidery  = $ 10.00 per hour
Let us add some embroidery to your artwork
to add dimension and texture to the design.
It really makes an eye catching statement.
