The Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire has been featured in Renaissance Magazine as a great event for
the whole family!
We are not time period specific, but cover the span of history and fantasy, leaning more toward revelry
than historical accuracy.
However, the Faire provides many important educational lesson for students.
The Society of Creative Anachronism (SCA) will be on hand doing demonstrations of how people
actually lived in medieval times. They are a wealth of knowledge on all subjects from food to clothing
to combat! Students can glean interesting historical facts from people portraying specific characters
from specific time periods.
The Faire is also a wonderful lesson in economics. See our downloads page for lesson plans on this
subject! Vendors come from all over America to set up at this event. It's a great opportunity to discuss
things such as:
Supply and Demand
Self Employment
Import/Export
Business Growth
The Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire is an important event in Pensacola, celebrating Pensacola's status
as the First Settlement in America. Our goal is to promote awareness of the origins of the Gulf Coast,
and give people a sense of being connected - to each other and to our heritage. We help bring the
pioneering spirit of our forebearers into the modern world by showcasing unique businesses and
entertainments as concrete examples of how people can overcome any hardship or disability to
express themselves as individuals and prosper under difficult circumstances.
Students will be able to enjoy this day without
bringing any extra cash, however, the
merchants who are attending this day will have
items specially priced for students and may
offer wares on this day that will not be
available the following days.
Absolutely no weapons of any kind will be sold
on this day. Students must not bring any
weapons on site.
Food vendors will be on site, the Faire does
not include food in the admission price.
Students are welcome to bring bag lunches.
